once every few years ain’t bad
It happened once with GG and it happened again…I found out casually that Office Spouse voted for McCain back in the day (2008).
With GG I found out by uncovering some campaign poster, which was scary. With Office Spouse, I was just voicing how I was worried about what a field day Republicans could have pointing out Obama’s faults, and how it might get blown out of proportion undermining the one greatest thing Obama had going for him: the relative unification of the nation under an illusion of big fixes to come. I worried for the democratic party. He said he wasn’t worried…and that he voted McCain to begin with. Discussion followed. The part I found most worrying wasn’t that he didn’t have a problem with Palin (opinion is opinion and clearly she had supporters of some kind) but that the VP runningmate in general didn’t affect his choice. WTF.
I am not very political, and we actually align well enough (both social liberals, and on opposite sides of moderate otherwise allowing for disagreement and discourse but nothing extreme) but how did I not know? And how could he not care who the VP is at all? I guess I have to accept that what hasn’t come up yet isn’t important in the end.
We’ll see how this plays out. (The election. This is not anywhere close the biggest problem or problem-to-be in the relationship. =P)
